Becoming a 3D Animator...

Becoming a 3D animator

Ø  How do we get started at 3d?
We are all aware of many courses & streams in the college, but we never thought about our inner creativity apart from studies. We do drawings on paper or else work on computer that to at a very small scale, ending up using only Paint software which even a child can work on it. We take up many courses or degrees in college where u can use best of your creativity for example: Advertising, Arts & Craft, Interior / architectural designing, Fashion designing and much more.  Coming to 3D animation!!! The first question that arises our minds is “what is 3D animation is all about?” 3D Animation is vast and explosive creative world which not only create chaos in kids but make them curious to put hands on it.
To know more about 3D animation is to just get started….
Ø  What are your main sources of inspiration?

We watch lot many cartoons, play lot many games and have many more hobbies. There are many things in life & at every step of your life which will keep you inspiring. For a business men say it Ambani, for an Actor say it Amitabh Bachchan , for an tennis player say Sania mirza and for the great 3d Animator say getting into the hearts of Disney/Pixar. Even, everyday surroundings can be a great source of inspiration for us. If we see something outdoors that picks our interest, it tends to translate it either on paper or through the computer.

Ø  What are your strong points / how will 3D animation benefit you?

There are many aspects where people will ask you “what’s your strength?”  Say it in terms of Personality, Interviews, Studies etc. As in 3D Animation your strength can be as a Modeling Artist, Lighting & Shading Artist, Animator and much more. For example:  You have studied MBA/BBA and as well for interest you have even done 3D Animation which is your creative side. Say it in future you could not be successful in business Inspite of doing MBA but still you are at safer side because you have done 3D Animation. Inspite of giving so much time to do MBA you still didn’t succeed but your creativity got you at the safer side & successful job.

Ø  Ending up the scenario?

In today’s world the survival required i.e. a good job with the best income is must. 3D animation is exploring in so high frequency that for each 3hr movies like AVATAR, 2012, Ramayana, Harry Potter, etc requires more than 400+ Artists to work on the project. If you would like to be the one and if you know that you have the will and inner creativity then you can even get started “ To BECOME a 3D ANIMATOR”.

Thought of the Day... Inspiration for the Great Animators... By Gr8 Animators...

You can dream, create, design and build the most wonderful place in the world, but it requires people to make the dream a reality.

Animation is different from other parts. Its language is the language of caricature. Our most difficult job was to develop the cartoon's unnatural but seemingly natural anatomy for humans and animals.Walt Disney

Gaturro... La Pelicula

About:

There is a curious romantic cat purring around the big screens in Argentina in a stereoscopic 3D avatar. The pursuit of Gaturro the cat trying to impress Agatha, the girl of his dreams continues in the first Latin American 3D animation film Gaturro. Produced by Kerala based Toonz animation India & Illusion studios, Argentina.

The production of the film was done entirely by Toonz Animation India right from layouts, character animation, 3D special effects to lighting, rendering and final compositing, executed for the stereo 3D experience. The characters in the film lent themselves creatively to the 3D medium and the story called for very dynamic camera movements which could be achieved only in 3D.

The difficulty perse is more of handling huge number of characters in the final scenes where the marriage of the protagonist takes place. Each scene was like doing the entire process for at least 25 time. The attendee's crowd for the marriage was huge which was unprecedented.

Maya was used for all the 3D work, Combustion for compositing and Photoshop for texturing and matte paintings. The production of this film took about 15months and around 300 artists to make it happen across studios.

The Oscar winning Voltage Pictures will be releasing the film world wide and in India Toonz is targeting a January 2011.
